If you’re thinking of enjoying a short break, perhaps a long weekend, in Barcelona then you may already be adding typical city costs to your expected expenditure ahead of your trip. But you should really consider the various methods that will help you cut costs on what you are paying for before you travel, at least this way you can allow more your budget for spending money.

There are many reasons people opt for a holiday Barcelona ranging from simple sun, sea and sand as well as sightseeing and sporting events too. Regular flights head in and out of the Spanish city everyday so you won’t find it difficult to get tickets, plus there are various low cost airlines providing low cost flights. Last year tourists from the UK we’re enjoying day trips to Barcelona so they can enjoy a short day exploring the city before heading to the Nou Camp on an evening – the Nou Camp is of course the home to the mighty FC Barcelona.

There are those who may prefer to spend the night after enjoying a late night football game, this way they could soak up the evening atmosphere followed by a fine tapas meal in one of the cities fine restaurants. If you are thinking of a short one night stay then there are many cheap hostels in Barcelona which can make the whole trip really low cost. Hostels often have a stigma attached which implies they are poor quality accommodation that offer little in comfort and more in convenience, but this is no longer the case. Nowadays options available won’t see you room sharing, plus many hostels now provide rooms with en suite facilities.

Other travellers who are spending an extended period of time in Barcelona will probably prefer a higher standard of hotel accommodation that offers gym and spa facilities. Those planning on touring the city on a sightseeing extravaganza will certainly look forward to steam rooms and Jacuzzis after a long day beating the pavement.

If your plan for Barcelona is simply soaking up the sun on the beach during the day before sampling the cities late night activities, then hotels may not be the best option. Barcelona hostels aren’t just a good choice to minimise costs, they often do better than some hotels when it comes to location within the city. Most people looking to spend more time enjoying everything that Barcelona has to offer are mainly looking for a place to store their belongings for the duration of their holiday. If this sounds like you then hostel accommodation is probably the best option to take.
